{"id":6331,"date":"2017-02-12T13:44:56","date_gmt":"2017-02-12T13:44:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/?p=6331"},"modified":"2017-02-12T13:44:56","modified_gmt":"2017-02-12T13:44:56","slug":"a-favored-sequence-shoulder-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/a-favored-sequence-shoulder-work\/","title":{"rendered":"A Favored Sequence &#8211; Shoulder Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It snowed on the eve of February&#8217;s #SnowMoon and rather than shoveling I worked every angle of my body &#8211; especially the shoulders &#8211; on the reformer.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t mistake this as easy. \u00a0It requires considerable powerhouse engagement to hold the vertical alignment of the body as\u00a0uses the resistance of the springs and straps to move the arms in the shoulder joint. \u00a0I caution first-timers to be very mindful of that fact &#8211; engaging the core &#8211; before moving, lest they face plant into the well. #Truthspeak<\/p>\n<h1>Exhilarating Movement<\/h1>\n<p>It is the most exhilarating movement for me. \u00a0A favored sequence. \u00a0It always held that spot on my list because of the challenge it necessitates of my body. \u00a0After my car accident and shoulder injury, three years ago, getting back to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/moving-through-the-sticky-parts-shoulder-work\/\">full, fluid movement of my limbs<\/a> in this sequence was my goal. I&#8217;m close. Not complete, yet,\u00a0way better than it was. Swakate is the tell-tale marker.<\/p>\n<p>I find this sequence to be the epitome of the Pilates Principles in action. \u00a0<strong>Centering<\/strong> of the body and mind; <strong>Control<\/strong> of the movements and all the transitions; \u00a0<strong>Concentration<\/strong> (lest you lose face plant) <strong>Precision<\/strong> in execution (lest you use the tricep vs the shoulder retraction or miss-the-use of the backline to work the frontline of the body).
