{"id":6233,"date":"2016-12-10T20:03:20","date_gmt":"2016-12-10T20:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/?p=6233"},"modified":"2016-12-10T23:05:38","modified_gmt":"2016-12-10T23:05:38","slug":"pilates-is-not-a-magic-pill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/pilates-is-not-a-magic-pill\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilates is Not A Magic Pill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think its great that students\u00a0get excited in their expectations for changing their bodies and their lives with Pilates. \u00a0I do however, bring reality and <strong>#truthspeak<\/strong> to the conversation when I tell newcomers that Pilates is not the &#8220;be all to end all.&#8221; It is not a magic pill. It&#8217;s part of my &#8220;body maintenance &amp; management.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I love it when eyes light up with the prospect of making long-term changes in a body that has not done anything for a few months. \u00a0I love it when students enthusiastically sign up for classwork and realize after the first class session, that Pilates is not a &#8220;wuss&#8221; workout. \u00a0With a wink of my eye and a supportive hand on the body part that needs the guidance, I help them understand this is a serious commitment to yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it&#8217;s not the magic pill that will make everything that hurts go away in ten sessions. \u00a0It&#8217;s more like a\u00a0continuous thread that can help to weave together all the other actions\u00a0of an active, healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>For me, its more the important first leg of my 4-legged stool. \u00a0Pilates being the <strong>Strength, Stretch and Length<\/strong> component of my body movement programming; <strong>Cardiovascular<\/strong> work, e.g., cycling, running, swimming, etc., is given an equal balance in my repertoire; \u00a0Nutrition, rest and sleep, which are necessary to <strong>Refuel and Refresh<\/strong> the mind and body also get equal footing in the balance of life, and lastly the fourth leg of my stool may involve <strong>Cross-Training<\/strong> activities with other fitness regimens, tools and toys; such as yoga, TRX, weights, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 658px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-version=\"7\">\n<div style=\"padding: 8px;\">\n<div style=\"background: #F8F8F8; line-height: 0; margin-top: 40px; padding: 28.1944444444% 0; text-align: center; width: 100%;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"margin: 8px 0 0 0; padding: 0 4px;\"><a style=\"color: #000; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none; word-wrap: break-word;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BNtzXUhAcv4\/\" target=\"_blank\">Do you know how different you would feel moving your body with #Pilates?
