{"id":5864,"date":"2016-03-06T16:02:37","date_gmt":"2016-03-06T16:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/?p=5864"},"modified":"2024-02-06T16:18:36","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T16:18:36","slug":"first-five-days-of-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/first-five-days-of-march\/","title":{"rendered":"First Five Days of March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So the saying goes, &#8220;March roars in like a lion&#8230;.&#8221; and that we are doing with a fever pitch for #MarchMatness2016. \u00a0Teachers and students around the world jumping into the fun of doing a little bit of Pilates everyday.<!--more-->I for one, have shot a lot of video in the past five days\u00a0in addition to doing an hour of cardio each day after teaching. \u00a0I am keeping my promise of wearing the ankle weights &#8211; just for the simple challenge of the work &#8211; and have incorporated the 2.5 lb ankle weights into my Intermediate and Advanced mat classes during the week.<\/p>\n<p>Those students are loving the additional challenge, albeit with a little curse, &#8220;whoa&#8221; and then a giggle after the the first leg lift. The ankle weights provide a gentle &#8220;resisted assistance&#8221; to several exercises, e.g., #rollup\u00a0and\u00a0#neckpull and a little more feedback and &#8220;oppositional resistance&#8221; for overhead movements, #corkscrew, #overhead and #controlbalance.<\/p>\n<p>I know I am going to be a new woman when this month is over. \u00a0The first five days were\u00a0pure joy!<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"800\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/esCRPyO3jJ8?si=XzEYfWa326IU8FEF\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Practicing Side Kicks into Fan Kicks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The other\u00a0commitment I made to myself, was to master the Fan Kicks sequence that I learned from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/bridge-pilates-brooklyn-blossom\/\">Blossom&#8217;s<\/a> work with #KathyGrant. \u00a0She said Kathy gave the Ailey Dancers that graced her classes, a little something special to do &#8220;so they wouldn&#8217;t fall asleep doing Side Kicks,&#8221; and this fancy move is just\u00a0a hoot\u00a0and the trick to keep you working the magic.<\/p>\n<p>I am going on record, that I am practicing it so I can be proud enough to post for #SideKicks! &#8230;with the ankle weights, cause they definitely help in the grounding of the base leg.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0lamb, I won&#8217;t be when this\u00a0month is over! #justsayin&#8217;
