{"id":4057,"date":"2014-01-25T20:05:19","date_gmt":"2014-01-25T20:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/?p=4057"},"modified":"2014-04-27T11:14:53","modified_gmt":"2014-04-27T11:14:53","slug":"changing-and-holding-onto-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/changing-and-holding-onto-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing and Holding Onto It"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\">\n<p>It&#8217;s January 25, 2014. \u00a0\u00a0I have not had a glass of wine for 24 days! \u00a0 This is a particularly amazing fact, when I tell you that I had fallen into the bad habit of drinking 2 glasses of wine (sometimes 3) at night which often resulted in 3-4 bottles of white wine consumed a week. \u00a0That was prior to January 1st when I kicked the habit after drinking all the champagne.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-4087\" style=\"margin: 7px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/wine-glass-stemless.jpg\" alt=\"wine-glass-stemless\" width=\"350\" height=\"249\" \/>Yes, there is no question the wine was a great calmative at the end of the day. \u00a0After teaching and giving all my energy to the studio and students, I really looked forward to those very cold glasses of Chardonnay in the evening. \u00a0I made a switch from red to white wine about 12 months ago, as noticed my body failed to handle the &#8220;heaviness&#8221; of the red rhone I had previously enjoyed. \u00a0The reds showed up &#8220;all over my face&#8221; the next day. \u00a0Vanity of course ruled the day and the red wine was replaced with a lighter, white wine.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the lighter the wine, it seems the more I was able to consume. \u00a0Since I am so active, I never paid attention to the calories while I was drinking. \u00a0I always filled the glass to top \u00a0&#8211; about 200+ calories per 10 oz glass. \u00a0Damn! \u00a0Quite a bit of excess sugar and calories and a big zap to my energy level the next day. \u00a0I was probably subconsciously reasoning \u00a0that all the green tea and green juice I was drinking during the day offset the excess I was consuming at night. \u00a0My face still showed the puffiness &#8211; albeit a lighter version of puff.<\/p>\n<p>I became painstakingly aware of a new addictive behavior. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t like the result and I wanted to make the change completely.<\/p>\n<p>There wasn&#8217;t much I wanted to give up \u00a0or &#8220;delete&#8221; from my life in the new year. \u00a0I actually wanted to &#8220;add&#8221; things of value to it. \u00a0I was aware, however, that the fluid gracefulness I wanted in my body and my movements was being held back and perhaps, the wine was a good thing to delete.<\/p>\n<p>I stood still in the realization of the extra work I was requiring of my body with all the wine consumption. \u00a0Not to mention the money I was giving to the liquor store to support my &#8220;habit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>[su_quote]The first step to change is awareness. The second step is acceptance.[\/su_quote]<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">So after finishing a great bottle of champagne on New Year&#8217;s Eve and waking up with a great headache the morning after, I took the second step and <a href=\"http:\/\/winefolly.com\/tutorial\/wine-nutrition-facts\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-4096\" style=\"margin: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/wine-nutrition-facts-calorie-chart1-1024x905.png\" alt=\"wine-nutrition-facts-calorie-chart1\" width=\"600\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/wine-nutrition-facts-calorie-chart1-1024x905.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/wine-nutrition-facts-calorie-chart1-300x265.png 300w, https:\/\/www.pilates4fitness.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/wine-nutrition-facts-calorie-chart1.png 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>proclaimed to myself and my students, that wine was being eliminated. \u00a0Twenty-five days later, I am holding onto the change and drinking fruit and vegetable juices as well as herb-tea infused water, exclusively. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\">I am thoroughly loving the changes I see in the mirror.
