One of my long-term students brought this article to my attention, as she recognized all of the exercises and moves featured in the article. I love it for a couple of reasons and am sharing to support everyone’s continued use of the perfect form of Pilates in your home and all of the studio workouts.

I love the article for a couple of reasons, a) it features a beautiful woman of color and Pilates Instructor, Dina Blair, from Atlanta that I am happy to see in print, b) the references are from Alycea Ungaro, Real Pilates, another beautiful woman I know and love from New York, lastly, c) all the moves, I am happy to say, will be easily recognizable to students across the entire spectrum of classes offered in my studio.

Why Reinvent the Wheel?

When something works, as Pilates does, why on earth would you try to re-invent the wheel? Which is why I work to apply the wonder and beauty of Pilates to every exercise program in the studio.

All students will recognize “The Hundred” no matter what class you choose — like it or not, you will warm up the body with this classic move.

TRX students will recognize the “Tendon Stretch” (Reverse Crunch), although sans the TRX straps and Pilates Mat and Pilates Toning class students will recognize the “Twist and Reach” move, taken from the Pilates apparatus repertoire, and our use of varied tools (bands, bars, balls, circles) to achieve length through the side body.

Take a peek at the link below and enjoy the fact that you are using an amazing program and system of movements that garners consistent results.  Use the handout as another way to support your consistency in the work when you cannot make it to a class.
