Whether the practice is arranging flowers, capturing the beauty of that sunset image or finding the full length of the stretch, the pinky toe point or the total body extension, its the perfect precision of the practice that makes beautiful art with Pilates.  I will forever practice this work.  Always, for the precision of it all.

IMG_20160324_090759Small, precise, slow movements can be so much more powerful in expression of the form and the art then big, choppy, momentous approaches to the movement.  There is perfection in the minimalist approach.  One can appreciate the richness of the minutiae and the simplicity of its elegance.

That is my takeaway from the last week of of practice.  Moving slower is not a step backwards.  It is the forward step with precise intention.

As I write this post, Day 27 of #MarchMatness2016, the exercise activity of many of my teacher colleagues around the world is #Boomerang and it is a perfect example of finding an artful, minimalist expression to a very complex movement.

This particular exercise is an advanced move.  It is also joyous flow of contradictory energy, as the body and gravity are at odds with each other.  We all work to avoid getting “stuck” in the middle.  Of course, I have upped the ante by keeping the  ankle weights on for the movement, which therefore demands more control and precision.

There is #ArtInTheForm and #AnkleWeightsRule
